East Devon District Council oversees five sea beaches and one estuary beach within its area:

Beer

Steep pebble beach in a small sheltered bay. Watch local fishermen landing their catches and take some fresh fish home for supper. All amenities to be found within the village of Beer. Limited parking on street. Large car park  in village centre and on cliff top but a steep walk.

Dogs are not permitted on the western side of the beach from 1st May to 30th September.

Budleigh Salterton

Over one mile stretch of pebble beach with esplanade. Superb views from the cliff. All amenities are close by in the town. Dogs are not permitted on the main beach from 1st May to 30th September.

Exmouth

Two miles of flat, sandy beach with all manner of entertainment and water sports. Dangerous for swimming along some stretches - follow advice on signs. Excellent range of amenities close by. During the summer you will find donkey rides and swing boats. There are also pay and display parking facilities.

Dogs are not permitted on the main section beach from 1st May to 30th September.

Seaton

One mile of pebble beach with a wide esplanade. Good for swimming. All amenities close by.  Parking in long and short stay car parks.

Shelly Beach, Exmouth

Part of the estuary and internationally recognised nature reserve. Large expanse of sand covered by the sea at high tide. Strong tidal flow in most areas, although there is a protected windsurfing and kitesurfing area. Dogs welcome all year round.

Sidmouth

Pebble and sandy beaches with wide esplanade. Amenities within easy reach. Parking available on street or in pay and display car parks.

Dogs are not permitted on the main beachs from 1 May to 30 September.
