Beaches - Budleigh Salterton

This beach is famous for its large smooth pebbles, which are an integral feature of the  World Heritage Coastline. There are red cliffs at the quiet Western end, and the Otter Estuary end.

Beach Type:

Pebbles ranging in size with a steep shelf into deep water. Very good swimming because of water depth with a slight east/west tidal flow.

The waves can become very dangerous in high surf conditions. Difficult for less physically able people to get out of the water. Strong currents towards the eastern end of the beach due to the River Otter crossing the beach.

Parking:

Approx 300 pay car parking spaces at the eastern end of the beach. There are also disabled spaces.
