Thelma Hulbert Gallery - the 'before' photos

Gallery cellar

Monday 08 March

Refurbishment of the Thelma Hulbert Gallery is now well under way, and photos of never before seen areas of Elmfield House, one of Honiton’s historic Grade II listed buildings, can now be revealed!

These show the Georgian/Victorian cellar (which will become a storage area), the main gallery (shown here when it was used for wedding ceremonies), and the shop/refreshment room, which was the home of the gallery’s after-school youth group, known as ‘Masterpieces’, for a few months before the builders started work.

There is still time to enter the ‘Open Theme’ competition. Suggest a theme to inspire artists for the Thelma Hulbert Open and you may win a prize. Email your ideas to thelmahulbert@eastdevon.gov.uk or post to Arts Development, Knowle, Sidmouth, EX10 8HL.  The competition closes on Friday 12 March.
