Colyton Parish residents vote for their favourite projects

Tuesday 18 September
MORE than 200 Colyton Parish residents took part ina recent series of voting events to choose the sports facilities they most want to see funded in the town with £22,500. And now the results of the voting are in!
In a project involving Colyton Parish Council and East Devon District Council, residents voted on which longer-term and community outdoor sports proposal they want to see happen.
The money has come from recent housing develeopments (Section 106 money) from the whole area covered by Colyton Parish Council.
Community projects
An appeal for ideas earlier this year produced a range of suggestions from Colyton Parish residents, organisations, voluntary and community groups. Those that were eligible for funding were the proposals the residents got to vote on at teh Colyton Church Fete on 11 August. These included an outdoor gym, a skate park, a fitness trail, cycling practice area for children, a sports activity wall and an adult assault course.
The most popular community project was a skate park in Colyton Playing Field with a small number of ramps at a project cost of £22,500. The next most popular project was an all-age outdoor gym in Colyton Playing Field and the third was a sports activity wall including things like a football goal and netball/basketball net.
The results have been ratified by Colyton Parish Council, who now await the release of the funding from EDDC.
Here are the results of the voting for each project:
