Events Guide 2010

The Countryside Service's Events programme is bigger and better than ever before! Download a copy of the PDF file Events Guide 2010 (1077KB - PDF Help) or pick up a paper copy at any East Devon Tourist Information Centre or Library.

Reptile Ramble

Tuesday 17 August  9am-11am

Another chance to explore Fire Beacon Hill with the Education Ranger to check the reptile ‘traps’. You may catch a glimpse of an elusive adder or a slithering slow worm.

Please meet at the Bowd Inn at 9am where we will head up the hill to the reserve.  The hill is quite steep and may be a bit of a challenge for the very young.

Axe Estuary Wetlands Summer Wet and Wild Weekend

The highlights of the Countryside Service's Events programme are the two Wet and Wild Weekends. This is, hopefully, the warmer one! The Summer Wet and Wild is held at Seaton Marshes Local Nature Reserve and runs from Friday 20 August to Sunday 22 August. There are lots of free and low cost events throughout the day for all the family to enjoy, plus a couple of breakfasts (moths on Saturday morning, birds on Sunday morning) and an evening bat walk. This year, you can get to the nature reserve in style by using the shuttle tram that is running from Seaton terminus on both the Friday and the Saturday from 10.40am until 3.40pm (tickets for the shuttle tram cost £4 for a return fare). See the wet and wild PDF file poster (418KB - PDF Help) for full details.

Rockpooling at Beer

Join the Education Ranger for some rockpooling at Beer beach. Please note that the times vary each day - this is so that we straddle low water to get as much rockpooling done as we can!

Monday 23 August 12 noon - 2pm

Tuesday 24 August 12.30pm - 2.30pm

Wednesday 25 August 1pm - 3pm

Muck in 4 Life

Muck in 4 Life is part of the National Health Service's Change 4 Life initiative and aims to encourage people to volunteer to get involved with practical wildlife conservation activities on nature reserves. The Countryside Service's PDF file Muck in 4 Life programme of events (164KB - PDF Help) is being added to all the time so do remember to revisit this page for the most recent schedule!
