Country by the Sea...

Welcome to East Devon, where unspoilt countryside meets the World Heritage Coast.  The Council's purpose is to improve people’s quality of life within the District without spoiling the outstanding local environment.

Students get a chance to take part in politics at first hand

THIS year’s Local Democracy Week will run from 10 to 19 October, giving East Devon students the chance to take part in politics at the sharp end.

Councillors and officers will be visiting a number of colleges throughout the district, explaining what being a Councillor means to them.  There will be discussion on politics at grass roots level and how they affect every part of our lives, including those of young people.

This year, students will be asked to present a manifesto – answering the question ‘If you were made Head Teacher and given £5,000 to spend, what would you spend it on?’ Students will then vote on their choice of candidate.

£75 reward for taking Trashman's advice

Leaflet front page for Information for Migrant Workers

DROPPING rubbish in a bin and not on the ground has made 18-year-old Nicki Sallie £75 richer, thanks to a campaign run by East Devon District Council and other local authorities.

Nicki was one of the lucky people who were spotted dropping rubbish in the correct place during September’s blitz on anti-social littering of Exmouth’s streets.

The campaign included posters on buses, bus shelters and phone kiosks, as well as ‘Trashman’ stickers on all the town’s rubbish bins encouraging people to use the bins, not the street.
