Planning in East Devon:
Ensuring that East Devon's built environment matches the quality of our natural landscape is the primary aim of East Devon District Council's Planning Service. To achieve this aim, we ensure that, in terms of design and location, development proposals accord with the Council's policies as set out in the Local Plan.
The purpose of the Development Control section is not merely to bring planning applications forward for a decision but to provide all applicants, developers, landowners and householders with positive advice and encouragement prior to making a formal application. This will enable their proposals to provide the maximum benefit, not only to themselves, but also to the community as a whole.

East Devon District Council links to the Planning Portal, which provides guidance and information about making planning applications, as well as resources for study and research. Our link with the Planning Portal enables you to submit planning applications, plans, and planning fees electronically - Click here to submit an on-line planning application. To find out what else the Planning Portal has to offer, see the Planning Portal page of this web-site.
If you require assistance completing your on-line planning application, please contact the Planning Portal directly on 0117 372 8200 or support@planningportal.gsi.gov.uk.
