Viewing planning files and obtaining copies of plans.

If you wish to view a planning file at our reception, there is a charge of £2 for this if it is necessary to retrieve the file from the filing room. However, there is no charge for viewing a file if it is available electronically or, if 24 hours notice is given for a file which needs to be retrieved from the filing system.

If you require a copy of a large plan, it is necessary to give 24 hours notice, as such plans need to be photocopied away from the reception desk. These plans can then either be collected from reception or posted to you. Smaller plans can be copied at the desk while you wait. There is a charge for any photocopying. Details of these charges can be found here.

Planning in East Devon:

Ensuring that East Devon's built environment matches the quality of our natural landscape is the primary aim of East Devon District Council's Planning Service. To achieve this aim, we ensure that, in terms of design and location, development proposals accord with the Council's policies as set out in the Local Plan.

The purpose of the Development Control section is not merely to bring planning applications forward for a decision but to provide all applicants, developers, landowners and householders with positive advice and encouragement prior to making a formal application. This will enable their proposals to provide the maximum benefit, not only to themselves, but also to the community as a whole.
