Second Adult Rebate
What is it?
Second adult rebate is another way to help you pay less council tax. It is not based on the money you have but on the money other people who live with you have.
We call these people non-dependants and they could be someone like a relative or a friend. If the non-dependants are on a low income or on Income Support or income-based Job Seeker's Allowance, you may be able to get second adult rebate.
You cannot claim if you are married or have a partner. We use partner to mean a person you are married to or a person you live with as if you are married to them.
The maximum amount that you can get is a 25% reduction of your council tax bill (but there are special rules for students).
