Countryside - Education
The Council employs a full-time Education Ranger to promote access to Local Nature Reserves across East Devon. The Education Ranger offers opportunities for schools, college groups, families and community groups to learn and discover more about East Devon's unique wildlife and landscapes.
What this means for visiting groups
Local Nature Reserves provide an ideal outdoor classroom for practical, hands-on exploration of the natural world. We offer safe access to a range of inspiring habitats including streams, ponds, meadows, woodland and coasts. Activities are linked to the curriculum and can be tailored to suit your group's needs or tie in with topics already being studied in class. Most activities can be adapted to suit all age groups. We are experienced in leading activities for groups as young as pre-school, or older groups such as GCSE or A level students.
We can provide all the equipment students will need for their visit. Sessions last for either half or a whole day and all sites and activities are risk assessed.

Free Opportunities
East Devon District Council is able to provide free educational sessions to visiting groups on the Axe Estuary Wetlands, thanks to funding from Defra's Higher Level Stewardship Scheme.
