Publication Scheme

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives a right of access to information held by public authorities.

The Act requires every public authority to adopt and maintain a publication scheme which sets out the information which is publicly available and whether any charge is made for providing this information.

The publication scheme divides information into 6 broad categories:

1. Who we are and what we do

Organisational information, locations and contacts, constitutional and legal governance

2. What we spend and how we spend it

Financial information, tendering, procurement and contracts

3. What our priorities are and how we are doing

Strategy and performance information, plans and assessments, inspections and reviews

4. How we make decisions

Policy proposals and decisions. Decision making processes and consultations

5. Our policies and procedures

Current written protocols for delivering our functions and responsibilities

6. Lists and registers

Information held in registers required by law and other lists and registers relating to the functions of the authority

7. The services we offer

Advice and guidance, transactions and media releases. A description of the services offered.

In most cases, information will be freely available from our website. Hard copies can usually be made available on request and our published copying charges will apply.

In certain, exceptional circumstances, information may only be available by viewing in person. Where this is the case, contact details of relevant officers will be provided and an appointment made within a reasonable timescale.

East Devon District Council is committed to reviewing and updating the information held, and therefore will amend the publication scheme as necessary to reflect changes in information.  Overall responsibility for the scheme is held by the Chief Executive.  The scheme is maintained by the Information and Complaints Officer.

Charging policy

Material which is published and accessed from our website will be free of charge. Charges may be made for hard copies of information, in line with our published fees and charges.

If a charge is made, confirmation of the payment due will be given before the information is provided. Payment will usually be requested prior to the provision of the information.

Writen requests

Any information not published in this scheme can be requested in any of the following ways:
