General funding throughout Devon

There are several leading organisations that distribute general grants and funding advice throughout Devon, including East Devon. Their funding programmes sometimes change so you may find it worthwhile to check their websites regularly for the latest information.

Grassroots Grants  Grassroots Grants have grants of up to £5,000 available to community groups in Devon. If your community group helps local people, is led by volunteers, has an annual income of less than £30,000 and has been running for over 12 months then you could be eligible. Make a difference in Devon  Devon County Councillors have £10,000 each available to support capital projects which can make a significant difference to towns and villages in Devon. As news of this funding is spreading quickly, and funding may be allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis, interested organisations are advised to contact their County Councillor as soon as possible. Your local clubs  Have you thought about contacting your local Lions Club or Rotary Club to ask them if they have any funds available for projects in their local area?

Small grants  The South West Foundation Small Grants Fund has grants of up to £1,000 available to support small community organsations operating in rural areas, market and coastal towns (not urban areas). The funding must be used for activities that enable people from diverse backgrounds to become engaged in their neighbourhoods and communities and/or to bring about real change to the lives of people in the community. Money for your local area  ‘Making it Local’ has grants available of up to £100,000 (but most grants will be much smaller) in the Blackdown Hills and the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Their aim is to get people more connected with the landscapes in which they live and work.The funding is for different kinds of businesses and organisations, including private businesses and sole traders, social and community enterprises, Parish and Town Councils, voluntary groups, local community groups, charities and collaborative groups.
A wide range of projects could be eligible for funding including: local village services; renewable power for a small community; training support for small businesses.

Devon County Council: Grantnet  Devon County Council subscribes to Grantnet, a powerful searchable database which matches your needs with funding drawn from a wide range of sources, including the European Union, government, national lottery and grantmaking trusts. Devon Funding News  Devon Funding news is issued monthly and offers practical assistance with raising money for projects in the UK.  Devon Funding News is free and available monthly by email. Devon Rural Renaissance  Devon Rural Renaissance funds two main types of projects: increasing rural economic productivity and improving access to services in rural areas. You can check your eligibility at: http://www.ruraldevon.org/eligible/

Funding for Innovation  Springboard is the new investment fund created to support the development of innovative ideas that will have a significant impact on the economy of Devon and Cornwall.  Investment, in the form of a loan, or possibly a grant, is available to any organisation in the public, private or voluntary sector, as funding to support early stage development, feasibility studies or 'step change' activity. The East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Sustainable Development Fund  This Fund gives grants to a wide range of community groups, organisations and businesses to make a real difference to their local environment or the way in which they do carry out their activities. The fund is available to any individuals, groups or businesses with ideas for projects that will benefit the East Devon AONB, its users and surrounding area. The Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation has funding of between £200 and £10,000 available for a wide range of purposes including education, arts, heritage, youth, community conservation, housing, health etc. Funding is for capital and revenue costs. For more information phone: 02074 082198.
