Stoptober’s  back! Stopping smoking is good for your mental health: it can improve mood and help relieve stress, anxiety and depression.

Did you know that if you stop smoking for 28 days you're 5 times more likely to quit for good? Stoptober has lots of support to help you, so you can choose the combination that's right for you.

New for 2018, Stoptober  is offering a free online Personal Quit Plan to help smokers find the right stop-smoking support . The Personal Quit Plan will recommend a range of options including a free app and daily emails, face-to-face support, nicotine replacement therapies and e-cigarettes.

Will power is the most popular way people choose, but it's the least effective! You are four times more likely to give up for good with support than if you do it alone. OneSmallStep is a service tailored to people in Devon. Take OneSmallStep to a 'smoke free you'. If you are a smoker who would like to cut back or even give up for good, OneSmallStep can help.

Three reasons to quit:

  1. Feel healthier: no matter how long you've smoked for, quitting can help improve your health straightaway
  2. Cash in: you'll have much more cash in your pocket. If you smoke a packet a day, you could save around £250 each month!
  3. Protect your family: quitting helps protect your loved ones from harmful second-hand smoke – reducing their risk of developing asthma, meningitis and some cancers.

Devon's Smokefree Alliance  outlines the Devon Specialist Stop Smoking Service and provides information and support for individuals and professionals.

Devon's Stoptober poster is available for display.
