Health and Safety

The Health & Safety and Food Safety Section gives advice and assistance to the business community in East Devon.

We are here to help with guidance on how businesses can maintain and improve on standards for their customers, staff and anyone else affected by their activity.

We:-

  • inspect premises for compliance with Health and Safety legislation
  • carry out accident and incident investigations
  • do advisory visits for control of asbestos, Legionella and other occupational health risks
  • respond to complaints from members of the public and staff concerning health and safety at a variety of premises.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) also produce a lot of information for new businesses and for specialist topics such as asbestos or chemical safety.
