Things to consider

Warning: Buying your home is one of the biggest financial decisions you will ever make.

Take time to consider whether it is the right choice for you.  You do not have to buy. You alone will know if you can afford to buy and should get as much information and advice as you can first, so you make the right decision.

A number of firms offer mortgages and other services to tenants who want to buy their homes. However, you do not have to use them. Check out what is in it for them first! Tenants do not always receive good advice from private companies and individuals offering to help them buy their council homes.

Before borrowing money to buy your home, take time to consider all the costs involved and the choices available. Anyone intending to buy a home should get full independent legal advice.
