A Taste of East Devon

Devon Open Studios 2008

2 August - 30 August 2008

Now held every year, Devon Open Studios gives the public an opportunity to visit the workplaces of many artists from the East Devon area. Visitors will be able to talk to painters, sculptors, ceramicists and glassmakers, etc in their working environment and buy direct from them.

The taste of East Devon exhibition is designed as a preview, in the month before the actual event, giving a taste of the participating artists work. This will enable visitors to plan their route around the studios which interest them.

Free Trail Map guides to this countywide event will be available from the gallery.

East Devon artists will be opening their studios from 13 September -21 September 2008

Ceramic Tiles by Caroline Barnes

Selling Showcases   CAROLINE BARNES
14 June - 23 August 2008

Caroline Barnes produces handmade ceramic products such as tiles, buttons and greeting cards, and jewellery which includes delicate pendants made from very lightweight porcelain discs. Each disc is decorated with a white glaze and decorative images are then applied in the form of a platinum transfer. Caroline'simagery is a direct response to the found objects she collects from the West Dorset coastline as well as botanical illustrations and drawings which she makes in natural history collections and museums. The combination of porcelain and platinum creates a unique and contemporary work suitable for all.
