Beach Huts
There are five main beaches in East Devon: Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth, Beer and Seaton.
Beach huts are available to hire at all of these locations whether it be from the Council or a concessionaire. Sites are available to hire for those people wishing to purchase and erect their own huts. However, demand and regulations vary between sites and all locations have substantial waiting lists for both huts and sites. All waiting lists are currently in excess of 5 years. The waiting list for Budleigh Salterton is now closed until further notice as it currently exceeds a waiting period of 12 years.
Private beach huts on Council owned sites must conform to the specifications required. They must be erected, dismantled and removed from site over the winter period by their owners or by persons under their employ. A list of contractors for this purpose is available on request.
Huts and sites are automatically offered to the same people every year until they wish to terminate their agreement, with the exception of Sidmouth which is offered on a rota system.
