Environmental Health Performance Report
We are determined to provide the best environmental health service possible to our businesses, residents and visitors in East Devon. As such we constantly review the quality of our service by monitoring our response times and asking our customers for their opinions through a service request or inspection questionnaire sent after our contact with them. If you would like to see what information we collect and what it is telling us, please read our summary

Highlighting the work of Food Inspectors for school children
The Commercial Team have been taking part in the 11 Million Take Over Day the Council recently put on for year six primary school children. The Team took over the council kitchens for the day and spent some time making them in to a "kitchen from hell" with out of date and 'off' food, cigarette ends and even a dead mouse, found in the gardens the day before, half hidden behind a fridge. Some of the team enjoyed acting out scenes of food preparation while creating some serious cross contamination risks and other examples of poor hygiene practices. The children enjoyed spotting the hazards and marking the kitchen out of a hundred, then deciding what action to take.
Neighbourhood Assessment
The Environment Protection Team carried out a joint venture with the Police to find out whether the residents of East Devon have any concerns about their local area, and whether they think they are a good place to live.
Environmental Health staff and local Police Officers have already carried out a door to door survey in seven of our larger towns over a six month period. Now we wanted to find out what sorts of problems residents of some of the very small villages and out of the way hamlets have, and how to help them solve them. The process has helped the various agencies in the District to improve communication and co-operation in dealing with issues.
The results of all of the assessment can be found here
