Empty Homes Service
The Empty Homes Service aims to:
- prevent homes/buildings standing empty or becoming empty;
- and to preserve and improve the local housing stock.
The service offers owners of empty, residential properties information about leasing schemes, private renting, selling to housing associations, grants etc, and give advice to help bring the property back into use.

Houses in Multiple Occupation
A new licensing scheme came in to force in April 2006. Certain Houses in multiple occupation must be licensed by the Council. Others also need to meet certain standards

Housing Conditions
The Environmental Health Service work to maintain good standards of housing in the private sector and reduce the number of unfit homes in East Devon.
