Adaptations
If you are having difficulty managing at home because of a disability, we may be able to help. The type of adaptations that are available include:
- Hand and grab rails
- Lever taps
- Stairlifts
- Level entry showers
- Access ramps
- Alterations to doorways
- Change heating systems
The process for having an adaptation made to your home will depend on whether it is a minor or major adaptation.
Minor adaptations are those which normally involve no structural alterations or additions to the property and do not exceed £1000. For those costing less than £250 you will not need an assessment by an occupational therapist. For those between £250 - £1000 you may require an assessment.
Major adaptations may include extensive structural alterations and will usually cost between £1000 to £30,000. You will require an assessment from an occupational therapist.
If you feel that you would benefit from an adaptation to your home please ring our Repairs Section on 01395 517458 and we will be happy to advise you about what to do next.
