Tenant Improvement Voucher Scheme
The Housing Review Board has introduced a new scheme for payment towards home improvements undertaken by tenants. This idea came from the Stock Options Appraisal Project as a suggested service improvement.
The tenant improvement voucher scheme allows tenants to undertake improvements in advance of the planned improvement and modernisation programmes. Money will be allocated towards lasting improvements to the fabric of the buildings and/or improvements to fixtures and fittings.
Some of the improvements included are:
- Bath or shower, wash hand basin or toilet;
- Kitchen sink and work surfaces;
- Storage cupboards in kitchens and bathrooms;
- Heating improvements
- Replacement external doors and frames
- Innovative energy efficiency improvements.
All works need to be carried out to an agreed standard and using materials of an approved specification.
Our Technical Officers will inspect the work once it has been completed. Tenants can then claim back up to 33% of the cost, up to a maximum amount of £1,500 per application. Invoices will have to be presented to support the claim.
Please note, this scheme is only open to tenants who have a secure tenancy agreement and have no rent arrears.
