Gardens

It is a requirement of your tenancy agreement that you look after your garden. Please ensure that:
- gardens and verges are regularly trimmed, well maintained and free from rubbish
- boundary hedges are trimmed at least once a year and kept to below 2 metres in height
- any ditches or water courses are kept free flowing and not blocked in any way
If you want to remove any trees or boundary hedges you will need our written consent. Please contact Landlord Services on 01395 516551 or email landlordservices@eastdevon.gov.uk
Please do not plant any trees, hedges or large shrubs which are likely to become dangerous, cause nuisance to your neighbours or damage to property. If you are in any doubt please ask us for advice.
If you are finding it difficult to maintain your garden we operate an individual garden maintenance scheme for eligible tenants. There is a small charge for this service.
Annual Garden Competition
Each year we organise a garden competition which any council tenant is welcome to enter. For more details please go to our Garden Competition page.
