Licensing
Licensing at East Devon
The council is responsible for various licensing, regulation and enforcement services, from alcohol and premises licences, taxis, gambling and lotteries to riding establishments, animal boarding, boatman's licences and zoos.
These services are provided by a number of different teams inside the council but the licensing section of the website will give you all the information and contacts you need in one place. This page keeps you up-to-date with the latest developments in the licensing world, including The Gambling Act 2005 and the new hackney carriage fares.
New Hackney Carriage fares
We have given notice that we intend to vary the table of fares for hackney carriages. Please click here to view further details of the revised fares.
Online Licensing - Phase One
As part of the council's commitment to getting services online, we have launched the first phase of our new interactive licensing web pages. This means that when fully developed users will benefit by accessing information and making licensing applications on line 24 hours a day.
In the meantime, you can click here to view up to date Licensing Public Registers.
Not available yet but coming soon, we are developing the following functionality to help us provide you with an easy to use and convenient licensing service via this website. This will provide a dedicated secure area for users falling into the following categories and the functions available to them:
Clients
A member of the public applying for new licences or with existing licences will be able to
- Create an on-line account – see Portfolio Management below
- On-line applications - new applications and renewals.
- Monitor a submitted application's progress. You will also be kept up to date with progress via email updates.
- Portfolio management - create an account to view details of all current licences held.
Authorised bodies/consultees
External bodies/consultees involved in the licensing process e.g. Police, Fire Safety, Child Protection, Weights and Measures, Enforcement officers, etc. will be able to provide:
- On-line response - authorised bodies/consultee will be notified by email that a response is required. Here they can login and respond on-line.
- Licence validation - check the validity of a specific licence.
Note: Authorised bodies/consultees will be provided with security details directly by the Licensing Manager before being able to use the system.
