East Devon District Council recognises that there are a multitude of potential hazards that may exist and we are prepared to deal with most eventualities.
Notable hazards include :
- Long Coastline with commercial shipping
- Major transatlantic airline routes
- The M5 motorway and A30 Trunk Road
- Exeter to Waterloo Railway Line
- Exeter Airport
- Flooding
Major Pipelines
There is a major gas main that runs across East Devon, running through Lympstone, Woodbury, Ottery St Mary and through Honiton. For details on emergency preparedness see www.nationalgrid.co.uk
Radiation
There are no nuclear powerstations in the area, but in case of a radiation emergency, this will handled by Government Offices, for further details visit www.energy-choices.co.uk
