Memorial Bench including plaque:

You can purchase a memorial bench from the council.  The total price of £1428.00  includes:

  • Supplying a 1.8 metre hard wood seat (the timber is from sustainable forests)
  • Base (where applicable)
  • Plaque
  • Securing the seat on site.

This also includes a contribution towards the maintainence of the seat during its working life which can be up to 20 years. The plaques are made of brown bronze with enamelled lettering.

Unfortunately, if the seat is damaged beyond what the council considers to be economical repair, we would not replace it. Fortunately this very rarely happens.

Adopt a Bench:

You can adopt a bench, where you may put your plaque on an existing bench.  The cost of the scheme is £525.00, which includes the fitting of the plaque to the seat and a contribution towards any future maintenance of the seat.

Recycled Seats:

These are made from recycled plastic material. They can be sited at various locations throughout the District (subject to space availibility). The cost of these seats including a plaque is £677.00

Waiting Times

There is a delay of approximately one to two months between East Devon District Council receiving your cheque and the bench or plaque being placed in its location. This is unavoidable due to the time required for the firing process of the plaque.
