Register to vote if you're 16 or 17 years old
You can vote in elections in this country when you turn 18 years old.
But you should get your name on the register if you are 16 or 17 years old because the register lasts for a year and there could be an election after you turn 18. We are currently registering under 18's born before 28 November 1990.
Getting on the register is easy. If you live with parents or guardians, make sure whoever fills out the form that comes through the posts adds your name and date of birth to the form.
If you're living independently, you can
download and fill out an electoral registration form here. (16KB - PDF Help)
