Strategies and Research

Transport issues affect all of us one way or another. For some the problems may be traffic jams, for others an inability to access services, work, education, or friends and family. Transport can have positive and negative effects on our economy, our physical and social health. Transport and travel can bring people and communities together, it can also distance people, and sever communities if not planned well.

In order to better represent, understand and deal with issues facing East Devon residents a travel need assessment was carried out in 2004. The initial report and resulting strategy document can be downloaded below. Please note these documents are in draft form and will be amended in the near future following consultation. Changes to transport in East Devon have been made since publication of the survey, including the resurfacing of the A3052, new bus routes, a new fare structure in the Exeter Park & Ride, and return bus fares made available to commuters.
