Affordable Housing
Interim Draft Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Guidance for East Devon has been produced by the Council (but not yet adopted). A Consultation exercise was undertaken to ensure that the public, businesses, developers and interest groups had the chance to express their views on affordable housing in East Devon and the securing of affordable housing through the planning process. Lack of affordable housing remains a critical issue in East Devon and this guidance will play its part in seeking to secure greater provision of affordable housing throughout the District.

The guidance will be used along side and to complement and inform on the application of Local Plan policy and Government Planning Guidance when determining planning applications. The guidance will also help advise applicants for planning permission, landowners and developers of their responsibilities in respect to affordable housing provision.
A District-wide Housing Needs Assessment was undertaken by Fordham Research Ltd on behalf of the Council in 2001.
A further report has been produced for East Devon District Council as an update to the 2001 housing needs survey (1450KB - PDF Help) in order to revise estimates of the need for affordable housing as new information has become available.
