Local Development Framework Evidence Base
The Council has assembled a range of information to inform the preparation of its Local Development Framework. A large number of documents form part of our evidence base. They are available to download from this page: (This page is still under construction but is being updated all the time)
The Local Development Framework (LDF) process requires planning policies to be based on a thorough understanding of the needs, opportunities and constraints within the District. To achieve this local planning authorities are required to prepare and maintain an up-to-date information base on key aspects of the social, economic and environmental characteristics of their area.
Current Position
The Council is preparing the following Development Plan Documents (DPD) as part of the LDF:
·Core Strategy DPD - establishes the vision, objectives and strategy for the future development of East Devon for the period to 2026, including the scale and distribution of housing and employment growth.
·Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation DPD -
·Site-Specific Allocations and Policies DPD - provides detailed site-based policies for specific types of development. It also defines development boundaries to determine the general scope of permitted development in the towns and villages of East Devon.
Sustainability Appraisal
All LDF documents should be based on sound, robust and credible evidence. It will be this question of 'soundness' which will be central to their examination by an independent inspector. To the right of this page are various links to key documents that form part of the evidence base for the above Development Plan Documents. These can be viewed or downloaded through the links in each title. A full list of all supporting evidence and availability will also be set out in the document 'East Devon Local Development Framework: Evidence Base', available shortly.
