Licensing
The Licensing Team’s primary role is to maximise public safety through the issue of licences and enforcement of legislation covering a wide range of regulated activities which include:
- The Sale/Supply of Alcohol
- Betting and Gaming (including Amusement and Prize Machines)
- Charitable Collections
- Cinemas and Theatres
- Entertainment, Lotteries and Raffles
- Sex Establishments
- Taxis (Hackney Carriages and Private Hire)
Licensing facts & figures:
There are currently 637 Licensed premises. Of these 561 hold premises licences and 76 benefit from Club Premises Certificates
There are currently 1,039 Personal Licences
Last year:
- Granted 194 Lottery Licences
- Issued 199 Hackney Carriage Licences
- Provided 1011 Personal Alcohol Licences
- Granted 635 Premises Licences
Since commencement of Licensing Act in 2005 1,243 Temporary Event Notices have been issued
- 1,146 where alcohol was sold
- 97 regulated entertainment of late night refreshment only
Hearings
- 9 between 12 March 2007 and 20 August 2007
- 8 hearings cancelled by agreement
- 9 days sub committees have sat
In the last year 32 complaints were received, investigated and resolved
