Development Control Committee

What does this committee do?

Most town and country planning and development control issues are dealt with under delegated powers by the Corporate Director - Environment, in consultation with the Chairman or Vice-Chairman of the Development Control Committee. However, where a matter is considered to be more contentious, it will be referred to the full committee for consideration.

If the Development Control Committee feels that councillors should visit the site before making a decision, the application will be referred to the Planning Inspections Committee, a separate committee, which will reach a decision.

Full details of the responsibilities of the planning committees are set out on pages 60-63 of EDDC's Constitution
