Scrutiny Committee
What does this committee do?
The Scrutiny Committee has 15 members. Its membership reflects the Council's political balance.
The role of the Scrutiny Committee is to:
- Scrutinise, where and when appropriate the decisions of the Executive Board
- Scrutinise where and when appropriate the decisions of Porfolio Holders
- Assist with development of policy in conjunction with the Corporate Overview Committee
The Scrutiny Committee is responsible for examining and scrutinising decisions from all aspects of Council policy.
The Committee is also responsible for examining and scrutinising any matters that arise from portfolio holders.
The Committee operates under the Best Value Framework and reviews service delivery options, following consultation exercises

Meetings
The Scrutiny Committee meets each month, usually on a Wednesday evening at 6.30pm. Its meetings are open to the public, except for specific items where a statutory exclusion applies.
