Personal Searches.
Personal searches are, upon payment of the prescribed fee, an inspection of the Local Land Charges Register. From the 1st April 2010 East Devon District Council will adopt a new policy on Personal Searches, details of which can be seen in our 
Personal Search Guidelines (89KB - 06 April 2011 - PDF Help).
A booking sheet can be downloaded from this link (24KB - 04 April 2011 - PDF Help). Please post this together with a cheque made payable to East Devon District Council to Local Land Charges.
Please Note: As from the 1st January 2010, the Statutory personal search fee will increase to £22

East Devon District Council has received the above guidance document and is currently in the process of interpreting its contents.
The Council is not obliged to follow the guidance of the ICO on this issue, as it is not statutory and we have chosen not to follow this guidance at this time pending legal opinion which the LGA is seeking on behalf of the sector.
While we seek such guidance, property search information will of course remain available to search companies under our existing access and charging regime under the Local Authorities (England)(Charges for Property Searches) Regulations 2008.
