Local Nature Reserves
The council owns and manages seven Local Nature Reserves across the district. A Local Nature Reserve is a statutory designation, for areas that are important for both biodiversity and people.
Nature Reserves are not only sanctuaries for biodiversity. They are an amenity for local communities, giving people the opportunity to experience the natural world on their doorstep. They are a shop window for best practice, promoting ways in which to help wildlife on your own patch. They are an education resource for schools and colleges, providing an outdoor classroom for hands-on learning.
