Planning Policy
The East Devon Local Plan (2006 to 2026)
We are now working on production of a new Local Plan for East Devon. The intention is that our new Local Plan will build on and supersede work that has gone into the (past) LDF Core Strategy.
Our most recent consultation ran from 1st December 2011 until 31st January 2012. The responses received are being collated and analysed by Officers. The submissions will be available for public viewing once this process has been completed. This will be within three weeks of the closing date. Officers and Members wish to thank everyone who made representations.

Planning Policy at East Devon District Council
A key task of the Planning Policy Section is to produce policies and plans to guide and regulate development and set out proposals for future development in East Devon. The documents and plans produced by the Council relate to:
East Devon Local Development Framework
Draft planning policies produced by the Council through its Core Strategy Issues and Options and Preferred Approach Documents along with its related evidence base that underpins these documents through the East Devon Local Development Framework will be used to inform the new East Devon Local Plan (2006-2026).
Local Plan
The Local Plan (which technically forms part of the East Devon Local Development Framework) was adopted in 2006 and sets out current planning policy for development in East Devon. The policies of the Local Plan will be progressively superseded by Development Plan Documents and Supplementary Planning Documents that form part of the East Devon Local Development Framework.
Parish Plans / Design Statements
Parish Plans / Design Statements are reports produced by Parish Councils or other local bodies that set out local area proposals and initiatives based on extensive local knowledge and public consultation. Details are provided of the plans that have been adopted or endorsed by the Council.
Major New Development and Regeneration Projects
The Council is working on a number of Major New Development and Regeneration Projects, such as Cranbrook new community and the Science and Skypark business parks, as well as regeneration projects in towns such as Exmouth and Seaton.
