Changes to Lottery funding
There are four lottery funding providers:
•BIG Lottery
•Sport England
•Heritage Lottery
•The Arts Council
BIG LOTTERY
This is the main large general fund, where the types of funding available changes significantly over time.

Currently open:
- Growing Community Assets: Funding to enable communities to have more control and influence over their own future through owning physical assets. These are usually physical assets such as land, buildings or equipment , but may also include other types of asset such as energy.

- BIG Innovation: Funding to develop innovative approaches to tackling emerging and entrenched social problems. Specifically about supporting new projects. Will award grants of between £20,000 and £1million for projects running one to five years.

- Heroes Return: Second World War veterans can apply for grants to cover travel and accommodation expenses and enables them to make trips throughout 2011 back to places across the world where they served. They can also receive funding to take part in an official commemoration in the UK.

- Reaching Communities: Funds projects that help people and communities most in need. Projects can be new or existing, or be the core work of your organisation.

Awards for All
Awards for All is part of BIG Lottery and funds small grants projects between £300 and £10,000. Voluntary and community organisations, schools, parish and town councils and health bodies may apply.
Projects must meet one or more of the following outcomes:
- people having better chances in life with better access to training and development to improve their life skills
- stronger communities with more active citizens working together to tackle their problems
- improved rural and urban environments which communities are better able to access and enjoy
- healthier and more active people and communities

SPORT ENGLAND
Sport England is committed to the creation of a world-leading community sport environment. This means it focuses on organisations and projects that will grow and sustain participation in grassroots sport and create opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport.

•Sportsmatch: Makes awards to not-for-profit organisations running projects at a community level which meet one or both of Sport England’s objectives of Grow or Sustain. They do this through matching eligible sponsorship pound for pound, up to a maximum value of £100,000.

•Themed Funding: Sport England’s themed rounds are competitive, targeted National Lottery investment programmes that address specific challenges to community sport and opportunities to increase participation.

•Iconic Facilities: Funding for innovative, large-scale, multi-sport facilities' projects that are regionally significant for at least two sports and can demonstrate long-term financial viability.

Sport England's Small Grants Programme
Funds work that supports recognised sports with a clear sporting outcome to grow and sustain themselves. Their list of recognised sports currently includes 36 sports, but is increasing all the time, so it is worth phoning them to ask if they can fund your sport. Sports clubs, voluntary and community organisations, local authorities and education establishments can apply. You can apply for between £300 and £10,000. They will fund things like the purchase of sports equipment, getting more coaches qualified , running coaching activities etc.

HERITAGE LOTTERY
Using money raised through the National Lottery, the Heritage Lottery Fund gives grants to sustain and transform our heritage. From museums, parks and historic places to archaeology, natural environment and cultural traditions they invest in every part of our diverse heritage.

Currently open:
- Heritage Grants: The main grants programme offering grants of more than £50,000 for projects that relate to the national, regional or local heritage of the UK.
- Your Heritage: Offers grants between £3,000 and £50,000 inclusive for projects that relate to the local, regional or national heritage of the UK. They welcome applications that help people to learn about, look after and celebrate heritage in a fun and enjoyable way.
- Young Roots: Designed to engage young people aged 13-25 with their heritage. Young Roots projects stem directly from the interest and ideas of young people, who are supported by youth and heritage organisations to develop skills, build confidence, and connect with their local communities.
- Townscape Heritage Initiative: Makes grants of between £500,000 and £2m that help communities to regenerate Conservation Areas displaying particular social and economic need throughout the United Kingdom.
- Parks for People: Offers grants of £250,000 to £5m for projects that regenerate ublic parks of national, regional or local heritage value.
- Landscape Partnership made up of regional, national and local organisations with an interest in the area, community groups and members of the community. The programme is based round a portfolio of smaller projects, which together provide long-term social, economic and environmental benefits for rural area. £250,000 to £2m grants.

•Repair Grants for Places of Worship: The scheme is for urgent repairs to the fabric of the building only and is open to all listed places of worship which are in regular use as public places of worship. £10,000 to £250,000 grants.

ARTS COUNCIL
Works to get great art to everyone by championing, developing and investing in experiences that enrich people's lives.

•Grants for the arts: This is the Arts Councils smaller grants programme with grants ranging from £1,000 to £10,000. It is for activities carried out over a set period and which engage people in England in arts activities, and help artists and arts organisations in England carry out their work.
