Parking on Council Estates
E-mail: estatemanagement@eastdevon.gov.uk
Many of our homes have parking available, whether it is on a drive, communal area, or on the highway. Parking can cause problems between neighbours, so please park considerately and remember the following
- You may park a vehicle within the boundaries of your property if you have a properly constructed hard standing with a pavement-kerb crossing.
- Do not park in a position which might obstruct emergency vehicles or vehicles belonging to your neighbours.
- You may not park a vehicle which is not taxed or which is un-roadworthy on the property or on any council housing land.
- You must obtain written permission from us to park boats, caravans, trailers or small trade vehicles on the property or on any council housing land. Any vehicles larger than a transit size (3.5 tonnes or over) will not be allowed under any circumstances.
- You must not do large scale car repairs on the land around the property, on car parking areas or on the road.
We have garages to rent within East Devon. These garages are available to both council tenants, and other residents. You can find further details about garages to rent on the garages page.
If you would like to build a garage or hard standing at your home, please write to us to ask for our consent. Planning permission may be required for garages.
In some cases we will make a grant towards the costs involved in constructing a hard standing. Further information on this grant, please view our hardstanding grants page.
