Your right to buy your council house
If you are a secure tenant of the Council you may have the legal right to buy your home.
These pages give you advice on buying your home, they are not a complete and authoritative statement of the law. If you have questions about your own case, the Council can give you more advice, or if you want to know about your rights, you can also ask a Citizens Advice Bureau or a solicitor. If you disagree with the Council about buying your home, you can get help from the Department for Communities and Local Government. Anyone intending to buy a home should get full independent legal advice. The following pages take you through what you may want to consider about 'right-to-buy':
- Do I have the right to buy my home?
- Things to consider
- Costs of buying
- Exceptions to Right to Buy
- Future sale of your property
