Sidmouth FolkWeek – 29th July – 5th August 2011

A Celebration of Folk Dance and Song
The focus of Sidmouth FolkWeek will again be in venues in and around the town and at the Sidmouth Hub at the eastern end of the seafront.
With over 600 events ranging from high profile concerts to dances, and workshops, including a full programme of youth activity and a whole festival just for families. FolkWeek starts on Friday 29 July and finishes on Friday 5 August. Full details of the event can be found on the Sidmouth FolkWeek website.
Or you can contact the all year round booking office on 01395 577952.
Useful information for Traders
The District Council has designated the seafront as a consent street and all the available street trading pitches for this year’s FolkWeek have been allocated. Sixty pitches are marked out each year on the Esplanade and consents issued to traders. Those without consents are not allowed to trade.
Please contact the Licensing Office on 01395 517411 or email licensing@eastdevon.gov.uk if you have any enquiries. Hours of trading for 2011 will be 8.00 am to 10.00 pm daily except for Friday 5 August when trading will cease at 7.30 pm.
The advice to traders is don’t just arrive and expect to trade. If you have not booked and been allocated a pitch you will not be permitted to trade. Council officers and the Police will again be present on the seafront to offer assistance to traders and ensure that no illegal trading takes place.
Those traders who have been allocated pitches are reminded that you are permitted to drop off your stall and stock but the police and the highway authority will not permit prolonged parking on the Esplanade. Please ensure you only park on the sea side of the Esplanade for as little time as possible. The District Council will take a serious view of any trader that persists in contravening the parking restrictions and may refuse to grant future applications for permits. You will therefore need to make alternative parking arrangements.
There are council car parks in Manor Road (Long stay) and at The Ham (short stay) but these have limited spaces and are paying car parks. Note - parking in The Ham car park is restricted to a maximum of a 3 hour stay in any 24 hours even if you hold a 7-day ticket/permit. Expect this restriction to be enforced. Further information on Council owned car parks can be found on the Sidmouth car parks page.
Seven-day parking permits are available from any of the tourist information offices in East Devon and from any of the Council’s Pay and Display machines. Alternatively you may wish to use parking at the Cricket or Rugby clubs in the town centre or the FolkWeek car park at the Bulverton venue.
