Useful information for Traders
Following large numbers of complaints and concerns about “uncontrolled” trading on Sidmouth seafront during FolkWeek, last year the District Council designated the seafront as a consent street 50 pitches were marked out on the seafront and consents were issued to traders. Those without consents were not allowed to trade.
This new approach was, due largely to the partnership approach of the Council, partner agencies and the traders themselves, a success and is being repeated this year.
The Council hopes to increase the number of pitches available and has already taken a number of bookings from Traders.Details of how to apply for a pitch, the Council’s policy, fees and guidelines are available from the licensing pages of the Council’s website or by contacting the Licensing Office direct on 01395 517410.
The advice to traders is don’t just arrive and expect to trade, book a pitch but do so sooner rather than later as there has been a great deal of interest from all over the country and from abroad.
The Council and the Police will again be present on the seafront to offer assistance to traders and ensure that no illegal trading takes place.
