East Devon District Council links to the Planning Portal, which is part of the common vision for improving the planning process in England and Wales. The Councils link with the Planning Portal enables you to submit planning applications, plans and planning fees electronically - Click here to make an on-line planning application.

The Planning Portal also provides guidance and information about making planning applications, as well as resources for study and research.

Use the link below to access these services:

  • Guide to the Planning Process - This section offers a brief introduction to the planning system and some explanation of what planning is for and why it is important. It is intended for both householders and business people and explains why planning controls are necessary and how decisions are made.
  • Application Forms - This section provides application forms which can be used to submit an application electronically to East Devon District Council. You can also use the on-line applications service to produce a site location plan to accompany your application.
  • Appeal - if you seek permission to carry out works to your property and your application isn't decided within a set period, or you get a decision from your local council that you disagree with, you have a right to appeal.
  • Study and research - the Study section aims to help people to teach or learn about town and country planning at all levels and in all types of education.The research section of the Portal is intended to help professional planners, lawyers, students, academics and others with an in-depth interest in town and country planning. Includes PPGs and other guidance.
