Proposed Validation Checklist and Explanatory Document

The Development Control Committee at their meeting held on 1 July 2008 resolved to adopt a Validation Checklist and General Notes document together with individual guidance notes to go with each particular type of planning or related application to be submitted.

All persons who wish to submit a planning, Listed Building Consent or related application for approval from the planning department will need to take the Validation Checklist and General Notes into account when preparing documents for submission. The General Note gives detailed guidance on the standard of plans to be submitted.

The individual checklist document for each type of application gives a list of documents which may be required by the Planning Department in assessing your application, and is available to download from the Downloadable Planning Forms and Guidance section of this web-site.

On many occasions those documents under the Local List will not be needed, but Council Planning Officers will look at every application and may ask for further information if this is necessary to properly judge the application. The applicant will then be required to submit that application. A failure to do so will render the application invalid and no further action will be taken.
