What is Planning Enforcement?
It is the responsibility of the Environment Directorate of East Devon District Council to monitor development within the District, and to be alert to any unlawful activities so that they can be dealt with promptly. This Authority views breaches of the Planning Regulations very seriously and has a special team which deals with such investigations.
Our Enforcement Section deals with complaints and enquiries about building work, advertisements, fly posting, illegal campsites, unauthorised works to a Listed Building, or unauthorised works to a tree subject of a Tree Preservation Order, and enforces the relevant legislation which may result in legal action being taken by the Authority.
Please feel free to contact the Enforcement Officers to discuss any concerns you may have relating to unauthorised development or activities within your area and whether it is a matter that can be investigated and dealt with by this Authority. If it isn't, they will be pleased to assist you in advising with whom you should be speaking to.
